[ARCHIVED] Binns of Williamsburg Will Relocate to WindsorMeade Marketplace in the County

James City County is pleased to announce that Binns of Williamsburg (Binns) will relocate to the WindsorMeade Marketplace located at 4900 Monticello Avenue, Suite 5, in September 2018. Binns is the most exclusive fashion store in the Greater Williamsburg region selling upscale sportswear, formalwear, shoes, accessories and cosmetics that cannot be purchased elsewhere in the area. In the past, they have been nationally titled, “Best Independent Specialty Store in America,” by Women’s Wear Daily.

Arabella Binns founded Binns in 1925. The fashion store transitioned ownership to Mr. and Mrs. Hickman when the late Janice Hogg Smith became the general manager in 1989. Smith’s daughter has been president and CEO of Binns, since 1991. Binns has been located in Merchants Square for the last 55 years, and on Duke of Gloucester Street or the vicinity, for the past 93 years.

“We are thrilled to continue serving our clientele in the Greater Williamsburg region and continue offering the upscale fashion brands that everyone has come to associate with Binns,” said Thomas E. Smith Jr., who is also the vice president and a head buyer for Binns. “We will continue to offer brands like Lafayette 148, Stuart Weitzman and Darphin along with our exceptional customer service, in our own corner of the world at WindsorMeade Marketplace.” “Most importantly, we will offer that same friendly hello and service when you walk in our new front door,” said Smith.

Binns travels the world to bring the latest, most distinctive and desirable fashions to their store. The store will also continue to offer exclusive trunk shows, master classes and demonstrations in their new location as well as continuing to offer their traditional holiday décor in December. “We will now have the opportunity to grow our outdoor holiday European-style Kris Kringle Market too.” “The S.L. Nusbaum Leasing management team are very interested in the retail vibrancy we will be bringing to the shopping corridor,” said Smith.

“S.L. Nusbaum is excited to have signed a lease with Binns, a first-class retailer, for 11,000 square feet in the WindsorMeade Marketplace and we know that their new location will offer easy, accessible parking and one-floor convenience for their customers,” said Richard Jacobson, Senior Vice President of S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co.
