Do you know who to contact when you need something during an emergency? What if there is a downed power line? What about non-weather emergencies? There are various types of emergencies that could occur in James City County.

In case of an emergency, there are several important phone numbers:

To report power outages or downed lines, please call Dominion Energy at 866-366-4357.

Not all emergencies show up in a weather forecast – they can happen at any time, anywhere. For more information about types of disasters, please visit the Virginia Department of Emergency Management website.

Emergency Plan

If you are interested in creating a comprehensive emergency response plan, FEMA offers a 10-page guide on their website. More information on business emergency preparedness from FEMA is also available online.

Nuclear Safety Planning 

Portions of James City County are within a 10-mile radius of the Surry Power Station and a Safety and Emergency Preparedness Guide is available online. The Surry Power Station is a nuclear power plant located across the James River in Surry, VA. To see if your business is located in a Surry Protective Action Zone, please visit this link.
