[ARCHIVED] 2:30 p.m. Update - Fire Crews Respond to Fire on Jolly Pond Road

Fire crews remain on the scene of a structure fire that occurred Oct. 10 in the 2200 block of Jolly Pond Road. The James City County Fire Department was assisted by the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, West Point Volunteer Fire Department, New Kent Fire Department and the Navy Mid-Atlantic Region.

Crews were dispatched by the JCC Emergency Communications Center at 5:13 a.m. and first units arrived at 5:29 a.m. to find fire coming from the second floor of the residence. The fire was under control at 8:40 a.m.

The fire destroyed a facility operated by the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, that provided long term care services. The residents were relocated to other facilities in the area. One resident reported a minor injury and was evaluated at Riverside Doctors Hospital.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause which is undetermined at this time.
