On Oct. 24 at approximately 5:15 p.m., officers responded to
the 4600 block of Noland Boulevard in Liberty Crossing to a reported barricaded,
armed person. The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic issue during
which the suspect allegedly fired an AR 15 rifle one time within the residence.
The suspect, 50 year old Richard Frederick Drab, Jr., identified
as a Williamsburg Police Officer, surrendered to police at approximately 7:10
p.m. Drab has been charged with shooting within an occupied dwelling (felony),
domestic assault, brandishing and reckless handling of a firearm. He has been
transported to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail (VPRJ) where he is being held
without bond.
Six weapons were seized from the residence. Weapons seized
included both handguns and long guns.
There are no reported injuries.
