Through Jan. 31, James City County residents can recycle Christmas trees free of charge at any County Convenience Center during normal operating hours. The Centers are located at 117 Tewning Road, 1204 Jolly Pond Road and 185 Industrial Boulevard. All decorations and tree stands must be removed prior to recycling.

For any final leaves, County residents may drop off leaves free of charge Jan. 7-20 at the Jolly Pond Convenience Center, 1204 Jolly Pond Road. The Convenience Center is open daily from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Leaves will only be accepted in clear bags no larger than lawn or leaf-size (40 gallons or less).

Leaves from commercial lawn service companies will NOT be accepted.

At all other times, leaves may be self-hauled to the Jolly Pond Convenience Center for a fee. Four lawn and leaf-sized bags will cost one payment coupon ($4). Payment coupons are available on the website or from James City County Recreation Center, Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, Freedom Park, Satellite Services or the Treasurer’s Office. Credit and debit cards are also accepted at the Convenience Center with an additional 2.95% convenience fee.

Brush, grass and tree limbs are not included in the free collection and will require coupons. The appropriate charge for these items will be determined when they are dropped off.
