[ARCHIVED] Police Respond to Traffic Crash Involving Pedestrian

On Dec. 19 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Police responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on DePue Drive in the area of Eastern State Hospital. A 23-year-old male patient at Eastern State Hospital was being placed into a transport vehicle when he got away from staff and fled. As he was walking in the area of DePue Drive, he stepped in front of a passing vehicle. The male was transported by medics to Riverside Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle is not being charged.

The crash remains under investigation.
