Interested in helping animals during a disaster? James City County and Williamsburg Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and Community Animal Response Teams (CART) are hosting a regional Emergency Companion Pet Sheltering training Feb. 9-10.
The two day course will be held at the Abraham Frink Community Center, 8901 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185. The training is free and open to any Virginia resident age 18 or older.
The training is offered in partnership with the Virginia State Animal Response Team (VASART), a volunteer organization dedicated to emergency preparedness, response and sheltering of pets and their owners in Virginia. Course topics include shelter duties, animal handing, personal protective equipment and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice setting up a shelter.
