[ARCHIVED] County to Host Career Expo – Finding Your Career

Career Expo Spring 2019 March 18 5-7 pm

Finding the ideal career is a difficult task. James City County Social Services wants to help area residents with this quest at the Finding Your Career Path Expo.

This event will take place on March 18 at the James City County Recreation Center from 5-7 p.m. It will feature representatives from New Horizon Education Center, Virginia Career Works, Today’s Dental School, Newport News Shipbuilding, Riverside College of Health Careers, and many more organizations that can help attendees understand the path to a career that is a great fit for them. “Our intention is not to hold a job fair,” says Jason Wiedel of JCC Housing, “We want to connect people with the tools and opportunities that will lead them to a fulfilling career.”

The event will also feature the “Planning Your Future Party Game.” This activity will be led by Andrew Martin of Literacy for Life who will guide participants to discovering how their personality type can help them choose the best career for them. The “party” is a 30 minute activity where attendees will discover a three letter code which will then match up with a wide range of career options.

The resources and activities will be a great opportunity for high school students as well as adults.
