James City County has won a 2019 APEX Award for Publication Excellence for most improved website (jamescitycountyva.gov). The APEX Awards are judged by Communications Concepts, which evaluates the best practices in print, web and digital publishing for organizations that achieve excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
“We pride ourselves in overcoming what is a major hurdle for many Counties—leveraging modern solutions to communicate with our residents,” said Patrick Page, Director of Information Resources Management. “It’s great to be recognized by APEX and we are proud of the collaborative work from our web and publications team.”
James City County re-launched its website in 2016, introducing a new, mobile-friendly interface and host of improvements for engaging with residents, businesses and visitors. Staff has continued to expand on web services by upgrading aging systems like ePayment and PermitLink, and introducing new features like online forms and virtual tours of County parks and facilities.
