[ARCHIVED] Traffic Fatality Shuts Down Olde Towne Road

On Dec. 18 at approximately 6: 45 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle crash in the 5400 block of Olde Towne Road. A 39-year-old female traveling south on Olde Towne Road in a 2018 Ford Edge was entering a curve in the road when she observed a 2002 Chrysler minivan headed towards her across the center lane. The driver of the Ford moved over as much as she was able to, but was struck head on. The driver of the Chrysler was an 87-year-old Williamsburg resident. She was transported to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and there were no other passengers in either vehicle.

Olde Towne Road remains shut down at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
