National Weather Service to Offer Basic SKYWARN Class May 4

Want to learn how to spot approaching hazardous weather conditions? James City County and the City of Williamsburg, in partnership with the National Weather Service, will offer a Basic SKYWARN class Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m. The class will take place at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road, Williamsburg. Registration is required at the National Weather Service website.

The “Basic SKYWARN” class covers all the background information needed for a citizen to become a trained severe weather spotter. The course is free of charge, and is led by a National Weather Service meteorologist. Once trained, spotters play an important role in providing the National Weather Service with vital weather information when severe weather occurs. Visit the National Weather Service website for more information.
