[ARCHIVED] April 27, 5 p.m. Update - Your Cloth Face Covering Protects Them, Their Covering Protects You

Coronavirus covid19 update news flash 2020

COVID-19 Updates and Reminders

The Importance of Face Covers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Please cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others. Your cloth face covering protects them. Their cloth face covering protects you.

  • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
    • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
  • The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
  • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

LOVEwork
Create your own LOVEwork while you stay at home. It can be as simple as a chalk drawing on the sidewalk, an arrangement of springtime flowers or even a LOVE made from odds and ends lying around the house. After you have created your masterpiece, take a picture or two and post it on social media, tag @visitvirginia and use the hashtag #LoveVA to share love with the whole world! https://www.explorejccva.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3877

Coping with COVID-19
You are not alone. We are all in this together. There are ways to help you cope with stress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services’ website.

Scams

If you’ve spotted messages like this, we hope you’ve also deleted them. These text messages going around could lead you to a scam or a hacker, but not to anything helpful. Visit the Federal Trade Commission website to learn more.
