County Parks, Centers & Facilities Update 
June 11, 2021

In all parks and facilities and for all programs, events and activities: In compliance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), all youth and adults who are not fully vaccinated should continue to cover their mouth and nose with a mask/face covering and maintain the recommended CDC physical distance from other individuals who are not family members. 

Parks 
*All James City County Parks are open and operating at normal hours and capacities.  

*All James City County parks, park offices/stores, the James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr. Community are open Friday, June 18. 

*Parks & Recreation Administrative Offices on Palmer Lane will be closed on June 18 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. 

*All parks, as well as all park offices/stores, are open July 4.

*The County’s outdoor swimming pools – Chickahominy Riverfront Park and Upper County Park, and splash pad (Chickahominy Riverfront Park) are open through Labor Day. For locations, operating hours, fees, rental information and more, visit the website or call 757-259-5395. 

*The Freedom Park Interpretive Center is now open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Recreation Centers 
The James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center are operating at normal hours. The Frink Center will be closed June 28-July 3 for annual maintenance. During the closure period, all active Frink Center pass holders may use the James City County Recreation Center, Monday-Friday, during normal operating hours. Both Centers are closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day. 

In addition:
● Hot tubs, saunas, showers and locker rooms are open without restrictions.

● A reservation system for lap swimming, water walking, group fitness classes, racquetball and cardio equipment is in place. Reservations for the week will open every Sunday at 1 p.m. for Lap Swim & Water Walking only; 2 p.m. for Cardio; and 3 p.m. for all other amenities. In addition to calling the Front Desk at 757-259-4200 for a reservation, online registration is now available. Visit www.signup.com/go/jccreccenter to sign up.

● Reservations are NOT REQUIRED for water fitness classes, line dancing, family swimming, open play basketball, table tennis, hot tubs or saunas. 

● Lap swimming and water walking is available by reservation only and is limited to a maximum of three (3) patrons per lane.

● Racquetball is available by reservation only and is limited to four (4) players per court.

● Group Fitness classes are available by reservation only. Click here for the schedule of land classes

● Child Watch remains closed.

Classes and Activities
● The Summer 2021 Activity Brochure is available and details offerings though August. Copies can be downloaded from our homepage at jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation or picked up at the James City County Recreation Center, the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, the Satellite Services Office in Toano, Chickahominy Riverfront Park, public County offices and at the James City County and Williamsburg libraries.
