[ARCHIVED] Police Make Arrest in Residential Burglary

Burglary Suspect

In the early morning hours of Sept. 7, an unknown suspect broke into a private residence in the Toano area of James City County. The suspect stole five long guns, two iPhones, an iPad, a Dell laptop and several collector’s knife sets.

The suspect has been identified as Nicholas Haufler (24-years-old of Newport News). Haufler was arrested on Sept. 27 in Newport News. At the time of this release, Haufler is being held at the Newport News City Jail. He has been charged with burglary, grand larceny, theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Several of the firearms and electronics have been recovered.
