[ARCHIVED] Williamsburg Winery Wins Medals in 2021 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition

Winemaker Challenge winners

The Williamsburg Winery recently announced that their 2019 Petit Manseng received a Platinum Medal in the 2021 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition. The 2019 Petit Manseng received 94 points and is available to purchase in a special limited pre-release sale through Sunday, May 2.

In a review of Platinum Medal winners, Rich Cook said, “Petit Manseng is a very interesting variety that you may not have had a chance to taste, and here’s a solid example worth seeking out. Floral and hard candy aromas lead to a palate that delivers the candy vibe with just a bit of residual sugar and leaves you with a zesty scour and a floral impression. I can see this flying out of the tasting room.”

The Williamsburg Winery also received four gold medals and three silver medals.

Gold Medals (90-93 points)

  • 2019 Wessex Hundred Viognier - 93 points - Yet to be released
  • 2019 Rkatsiteli Limited Release - 92 points - Wine Club Exclusive release
  • 2019 Cabernet Franc - 92 points
  • 2019 Petite Fleur Limited Release Aged in Cognac Barrels - 90 points

Silver Medals

  • 2019 Wessex Hundred Chardonnay
  • 2019 Wessex Hundred Petit Verdot
  • 2017 Merlot Reserve

The Williamsburg Winery is also selling an award-winning five pack of their Platinum and Gold medal wines. Wine may be shipped or picked up at the retail store.
