On Sept. 17, 2020, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers were called to the Atlantic Union Bank located at 5125 John Tyler Highway to a robbery. The suspect told the teller that he had a gun and demanded money. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
There were no injuries.
Virginia State Police K9 and Newport News K9 assisted JCCPD with searching the area.
The investigation would identify the offender as James Washington, 58-years-old of Richmond, VA. Police obtained a warrant for armed robbery for Washington in March of this year.
James Washington was arrested by Richmond Police Department on Sept. 7 and is currently being held at Richmond City Jail.
