Assistant Police Chief Monique Myers with James City County Police Department and two hundred and thirty-six other law enforcement officers graduated from the FBI National Academy at Quantico, VA on Dec. 8. The 284th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 25 countries, five military organizations and five federal civilian organizations.
Internally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 11 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The lasting friendships I have made with my fellow classmates have been the most beneficial and rewarding aspects. This has been one of the most advantageous leadership trainings I have attended. I am excited to bring back the knowledge I have gained to James City.”
Assistant Police Chief Myers received her diploma from FBI Director Christopher Asher Wray at the ceremony. As part of the FBI’s National Academy Associates, APC Myers is among the top 1 percent of all senior law enforcement in the world.
Assistant Police Chief Myers has been with James City County Police Department since October 2006. APC Myers has served JCCPD as a Patrol Officer, a Community Service Unit Officer, a Patrol Sergeant, a Community Services Unit Sergeant and a Lieutenant of the Professional Standards and Internal Affairs Unit. Over the past years of her service, APC Myers has received several awards and decorations, including the Supervisory Service Award. In addition, she is a Virginia Certified Crime Prevention Specialist and an Advanced Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Instructor.
APC Myers has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University. She is a graduate of the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond.
