Are you looking for ways to be involved in the community and help during a disaster? When regular communications channels fail, amateur radio operators can swing into action by assisting emergency efforts and working to support public service agencies.

The Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club (WAARC) will offer a free class for the entry level (Technician) and mid-level (General) Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Ham Radio License.

  • Technician: Tuesdays and Fridays, April 25-June 9
  • General: Mondays and Thursdays, April 24-June 8

Classes meet from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the James City-Bruton Fire Station (multipurpose room), 3135 Forge Road in Toano.

The licensing exam will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 9 a.m. There is a $15 administration fee for the exam and an additional $35 FCC license fee for Technician License.
