Oct. 15 Update:
The James City County Police were notified that Christopher Lanier contacted family members on the evening of Oct. 15, informing them of his location. Virginia Commonwealth University Police were also made aware and safely located Mr. Lanier at Main Street Station in Richmond at approximately 7:10 p.m.

The James City County Police Department is seeking the public's assistance locating a missing James City County resident, Christopher Lanier. Mr. Lanier, a 61-year-old male, was last seen at VCU Dental in Richmond at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2023, and is considered missing and endangered due to medical health concerns. Lanier was dropped off at the location by family at 8:30 a.m. and left unexpectedly before they could pick him up. Family members reported Lanier missing to JCCPD on Oct. 14, and a welfare check at his address confirmed Lanier did not return home. Police believe Lanier left the Dental premises In Richmond on foot and did not have access to any communication devices.
Mr. Lanier is described as a white male, 6'2" tall, weighing 195 lbs, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a navy blue windbreaker jacket, a tan collared shirt, light blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. Additionally, he is believed to walk with an impaired gait and slightly hunches over. A photo of Christopher Lanier, captured by a VCU Dental surveillance camera, has been provided for identification purposes.
