Ruth Larson, Berkeley Representative on the James City County Board of Supervisors, was elected to the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo) 2023-24 Executive Committee during the 89th Annual Business Meeting on Nov. 14. She will serve as the President-Elect. Larson has represented Region 2 on the VACo Executive Committee since 2021 and on the VACo Board of Directors since 2019.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve on the VACo Executive Committee and the James City County Board of Supervisors,” Larson said. “I look forward to continuing to work with other representatives to help improve the daily lives of all residents of the Commonwealth.”
Joining Larson on the Executive Committee are:
- President: Ann H. Mallek, Albemarle County
- First Vice President: William M. McCarty Sr., Isle of Wight County
- Second Vice President: Victor S. Angry, Prince William County
- Secretary-Treasurer: Donald L. Hart, Jr., Accomack County
- Immediate Past-President: Jason D. Bellows, Lancaster County
Larson was first elected to the James City County Board of Supervisors in November 2015 and reelected in 2019 and 2023. She serves as the Vice-Chairman in 2023 and served as the Chairman in 2018. Larson also served as the 2022 Chairman for the James City Service Authority (JCSA) and was the JCSA Vice Chairman in 2020 and 2021. Larson previously served on the Williamsburg-James City County School board beginning in 2006 until her election to the Board of Supervisors in 2015.
