[ARCHIVED] Virginia’s Newest “LOVE” sign in Freedom Park

LOVEsign_solo_NEWS_FLASH_2

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the unveiling of Virginia’s newest LOVE sign, located in Freedom Park. Planning for the LOVEwork sign began in early 2022, including a public contest to encourage artwork submissions which incorporated the County’s history, character and/or lifestyle of James City County. Special thanks to the community members whose artwork inspired the LOVEwork design and to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement for consulting with the County on design details. The County is excited to showcase what makes us a unique place to live, work, visit and play!

The sign was completed in partnership with The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC), which is charged with promoting the Commonwealth as a premier travel destination by showing all there is to love in a Virginia vacation. LOVEworks ties into VTC’s “Virginia is for Lovers” brand, and this latest LOVEwork is now among over 300 communities across the Commonwealth with a life-sized LOVE sign. Visitors are encouraged to take photos and share them on social media using the hashtags: #LOVEVA and #jccparksrec.

Freedom Park is located at 5537 Centerville Rd. To learn more about the LOVEworks program and view signs across the state of Virginia, visit LOVE - Virginia Is For Lovers. For more information about James City County Parks & Recreation, visit jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation.
